Dated Bathroom with Cottage Accents

Hey Friends!

I am slowly trying to decorate each space in our home and share it here on the blog. The latest is our bathroom.

So many things need to be updated in this house, including the bathroom, but in the mean time – I am making due.

Our layout is pretty “funky” – behind this vanity/bath area is a dressing area, then to your left is a water closet and a separate shower room. That links up with our boys’ vanity area. It’s sort of confusing but there is a lot of room to work with (including 4 total walk-in closets for only two bedrooms). I think the upstairs of this house is set up to have two master bedrooms but – who knows! I love flexibility and a non-traditional style.

I see tons of potential but I know it’s hard to imagine and it probably just looks like $$$ to the hubby b/c the outside needs a ton of work too.

I took pictures of our bathroom on two separate days and, wouldn’t you know, the decor changed! 🙂

I made that BATH sign to go above the mirror but the mirror would look awesome framed. (see a post HERE for a tutorial)

I purchased that bench at a local store called Liv & Luv (link). I sold so many of our things at my shop space in Virginia before we moved that I feel like I need more accessories and benches.

I brought that wooden garden chair (from Target) in for the Winter and it sits perfectly in this window nook as a small table for towels.

I would love a claw foot tub and more black and white decor but today – this is what our bathroom looks like.

Hope you are doing well!

  1. I like how you've added rustic touches to it. It's a very spacious bathroom and I think that's the most important thing. Nothing is worse than sharing a small bathroom with your spouse. There's togetherness and then there's too much togetherness! Ha!

  2. Holly, everything looks great. I especially like the bath sign, and the darling table adds a perfect piece to keep things in reach while relaxing in the hot tub. I always prefer long narrow windows over boxy ones. Enjoy the uniqueness of your beautiful home. Love ya, mom

  3. so many cute details everywhere. The bath sign above the mirror with the wreath hanging from it is soooooo cute!!!! Love the tray in the bathtub too!!! By the time you are finished with the house it's gonna be a master piece!!!!

  4. Even though you might feel like you're making do right now, I love how you're adding your personal touch through accessories. Love the little bench and that great sign! Mary Alice

  5. Holly, you've done a great job of disguising the fact that the bathroom needs updating! All your simple touches give it such a cozy warm feel. The sign, the chair used as a table, the wood tray on the tub, the shelf, all perfect!Rebecca
