I painted our wood island last week. Zero regrets!
🍂🌻🍂
Happy Saturday!
Today on the blog I posted about making a kitchen look lived in and not so “new construction“ with a worn texture on the island. I share links to many different ways to age furniture. This island has been a bit deconstructed on the end pieces to make it look less like the other base cabinets. There’s also a highlight to show how I achieved this look too. It might not be what you’d think.
After debating what to do with this kitchen island I decided to paint it green to match the hood cabinet (it still wants to be more gray but I am giving it time to cure). Marc and I agree that it really looks better painted in our great room (he only noticed because I warned him that the paint was wet 😂 true story). We have lots of browns and warm tones in this area of the house and the island just blended with the wood floor before (swipe to see). I have a love for old wood furniture so while I don’t actually have organically old wood here, I wanted it to look so. Tell me if you think painted distressed pieces are out of fash or do you think certain spaces/pieces call for a rustic texture and a worn painted finish.
This dining room is hard for me to photograph but I am happier with the space since the chairs don’t match. Today I painted two of them white but thinking I’d love to see them a muddy green shade instead. What do you think? Swipe to see more.
