I am excited to show you what happened here in our staircase.
It was very bland before and I wanted something bold!
Remember the wood railing and white spindles before?
The walls were still mostly Eider White. I am almost rid of it. (Link to that story).
A couple of years ago I put up board and batten wainscoting in the foyer and hall bath. I painted all those areas in Pure White by SW.
I chose a Behr paint color in Black. The walls are a matte finish and the wood is painted in a satin finish.
There is such a dark contrast against the warm oak, true white and natural oak – the introduction of black made all elements/colors/textures look even better.
This view is at the landing upstairs.
And looking down those stairs.
I wanted both black hall walls to have something on them. Everything just pops against a black background! The two are wall hangings are similar in scale so I think they compliment one another.
This is a shutter that isn’t that old but old enough to have gotten some wear. I exaggerated the age.
The market bag holds a mason jar filled halfway with water and some pathos clippings.
I think the black paint looks so good with the Urbane Bronze doors in the foyer as well. I was originally thinking maybe instead of black I should use Urbane Bronze again. But in the end I liked the true black and I have no regrets.
I have touch up still to do and the hall and loft areas are also getting an update. I’ve put off doing anything to this area ever since we moved in. It feels good to have it this far.
This post story is a little boring but I had to share the photos of the latest change.
Fall is treating us well here in Virginia. I hope you are enjoying your season wherever you are as well.
