A Refinished Dining Set

I haven’t refinished or painted a furniture piece in a long time, it seems like. The weather was so nice last week so I decided to take advantage of the “good painting” weather and tackle this big project.

The chairs are spray painted with Rustoleum 2X’s Cover Spray Paint – in Fossil. The top was stripped down then stained in ebony. The wood is really red, mahogany or cherry (?) so the ebony color cools it down to a rich dark contrast to the fossil paint.
The fabric choice was from the original owner and in good shape so I left them that way.
I really love the legs.
The odd part about this set is that there are only 5 chairs not 6 and the center leaf is missing. I thought that offering it with a bench would make for a more balanced seating arrangement, leaving one chair free – just in case one breaks..etc.

I love the color combination…the fossil and ebony go so well together…and the fabric is fun!

Adding a bench would sure balance things out, and will look like that's what you wanted all along. Good job!Brenda

I am getting ready to finally paint my kitchen table so I really enjoyed seeing your's for inspiration. This turned out so beautifully and love the contrast of the ebony stain with the lighter color. The fabric on the chairs is so pretty too!

I think the most seating possible is majorly important so I would go with the bench to optimize seating. I love the colors you chose.
